Berserk.

My latest violent addiction has been a manga titled Berserk. After playing the game based on the comic months ago on Scott’s Dreamcast, we finally managed to see the anime series. Last weekend we watched all 25 episodes back-to-back.

Unbelievably hyped up about how good it was, I spent some time trying to obtain the entire manga (comic book) series. The manga has been running since 1989 and is only up to the 30th volume out of (apparently) 50. The anime only covered volumes 4-13, so there was plenty more to catch up on.

Well, now I’m in withdrawals, as I’ve just read all of the available chapters from the 30 volumes. Now that I’m up to date, I have to wait for each release as they come. :(

Now I have to watch through Fruits Basket with Scott, too. I don’t think that one is completed either (at least the manga isn’t). Damn it, nothing I like has any closure!

It’s kind of good having some things to be following again, though. It’s only a few more weeks until Smallville starts up again, too.

It still bums me out that I have to wait for each installment. Boo.

Silence.

I finally took the time to remove the BIOS fan (that one that has been whirring for months) from my motherboard. I think I mentioned earlier that apparently it doesn’t make any difference as long as you’re not overclocking. Well, I’m not overclocking. So far it’s been 2 minutes and it’s all looking good!

I can’t believe how quiet my computer is again. :D I still haven’t reconnected the 120mm fan at the back, either, due to all the dust it sucks in. Maybe I can find a nice little filter or something and slide that inbetween the fan and the case. Maybe I wont bother if the temperature stays alright.

Speaking of temperature, I also took the opportunity to actually move my sound card down a few slots, so that it wasn’t crammed up in the face of my video card. The video card’s temperature has already dropped from 90° to 70° when I try maxing it out with some hardcore 3D rendering. Good times. Maybe BF2 wont fuck up as much now.

I don’t want to go to work today. :(

Merge.

Well, I’ve decided to manually (for lack of a better/any other option) copy all my LiveJournal posts over to blogspot.

I’ll do a few months at a time. It’s not too painful, I suppose. It’s a bit annoying adjusting all the dates/times for each entry, but oh well.

P.S. Naruto rocks and it’s hard to find Smallville, now.

Sniff.

Well, Lou left with Kirsty today. Yesterday, technically. I almost slept through it. I think I must have picked up my mobile (I use it for an alarm) and turned it off at 5am and then started hugging it all while I was asleep.

I woke up at 5:55, jumped up, brushed my teeth and ran off to my car to get to the airport by 6:30am. I made it right on time, even though I got a bit lost trying to work out where the car park was for the international terminal.

Inside, I spent about 2 hours with Lou and Kirsty and their parents as we wandered around the terminal. I even scored a free breakfast of cinnamon raisin toast. It wasn’t bad, to be honest. Lou bravely managed to hold back the tears when she had to leave us with Kirsty and go through customs, although I think the floodgates burst when she began to walk off. Poor bebe. :(

It should be all good, though. They’re spending a night in Japan after their ?9 hour flight. I’d be annoyed at only having half a night and a few hours in the morning in an (what I would think to be) interesting place like Japan. Still, they’re off to merry England for the first official stop, so that should be cool.

It still hasn’t sunk in that I probably wont be seeing her for about 4 and a half months. I’m sure it will soon enough. Hopefully I’ll keep myself distracted some other way on weekends. It’ll be a change after all these years. ;)

For this week, I’m going to a trivia night with Ali and Chris from Winesoc. It sounds like fun. Fucked if I know where it is, but it’s close to the North Shore so I should be able to find it easily enough.

Somehow I picked up a cold. I think I got it from Lou. Quite a few people seem to have caught something, so whoever the culprit was it probably doesn’t matter as I’d have caught it anyway. My immune system is probably just hanging on at the best of times due to the lack of sleep I tend to get. A bad diet like mine probably doesn’t help, either. I did eat two mandarins and an apple for dinner tonight, though, to con my body in to thinking it was eating well. I backed it up with a muffin and some chocolate. Nothing like headfucking your own digestive system.

Shipwrecked.

Lokitorrent got owned the other day. :(

Tried to post this yesterday morning, but LJ was fucked, too. Nice one.

Fortunately I still have my other premium torrent sites to entertain me! Just hope they don’t get raided and have to give up their member details. :O Possibly the worst thing about all the new sites: user databases.

So, my late wrap-up of recent games:

COPS 2170: The Power of Law – (…) good idea, decent graphics, bad implementation. Kind of like Jagged Alliance meets Syndicate Wars. I really like most of this game, but it’s just not balanced correctly so it can be incredibly hard even on the easiest setting. Not to mention it has a reallllllllllly lame name.

The Punisher – Cool. True to the spirit of the comics. Very brutal and ruthless, but with flair. Nice to see a few Marvel cameos as well. Think Manhunt meets Max Payne, but take out all the stupid annoying shit from Manhunt.

Fallout Tactics – not too bad either. A beefed up version of the Fallout games, with nicer graphics and higher resolution. This one is a bit old now and I’ve been after it for a while, just haven’t been able to get my hands on it properly. It’s a tactical combat style game basically, again similar to Jagged Alliance or X-COM. It has 3 different settings though, from real-time (Warcraft 3 style) to squad turn-based (X-COM style) to attack precedence I guess you’d call it (Fallout 1 & 2 style). Anyway, I got a bit of the way through it then started pining for some old Fallout 1 and 2, but my copy of Fallout 2 doesn’t work so I may just order it from a games website if I feel like spending the $15.

I could get Fallout 2 for US$2.50 and another US$2.50 for shipping I think if Amazon’s marketplace let people ship video games internationally. Fuckers. :<

I don’t suppose anyone really cares about any of the stuff I just wrote. I just thought I needed to make it look like I’ve got something to say for once. Hmm.

I’ve got a feeling I probably wont get the tutoring position at uni that I applied for. I’m kind of happy about it now though, turns out the course I applied for isn’t set out the way I thought it would be, so I’m not really keen on teaching it anyway. I don’t know if I could be fucked with doing the programming courses as well. Might just do another shift or so at SDS during semester and save myself the trauma.

That shouldn’t be too bad, since I seem to have scored myself 6 hour (minimum) shifts every Saturday for the next few months, leading to time and a half. If I can slip in a couple more decent-length shifts each week I should be plum. Well, scrape by for semester.

Still don’t know how I’m going to cope if I do honours next year. Hopefully I’ll be able to get youth allowance or something (there’s about 50 different names for it depending on your situation), since it’s meant to be a full time course. Hmm. I’m really not even sure if I want to go through with it now. Depends what options I find available for myself at the end of the year and if I’ve decided what I really want to do. Or perhaps on how well I do this year at uni.

I still hate being the only person in my circle of friends left at uni. Gah. :s

ARGH.

Still no net. Hi home.

I need to find out Dad’s special rent account number so I can deposit all of my cash and be poor again. :<

Larry the exetel man says to try a few more things tonight and see what happens, if that doesn’t work he’ll lodge an ADSL fault complaint with Telstra for me, or some crap. God knows.

Stupid ISP only having office hours open during business hours. It’s not fucking good for either me or Scott as we both work outside of and through exetel’s business hours, so there’s only 1 or 2 days a week where we’re home to go through all their bullshit.

I bet the pricks bill me for the first month, too. Real fair. Especially when Larry himself (hallowed-be-thy-name) admitted he wasn’t even sure what the problem was. Hopefully I can fix it tonight, otherwise what’s another few days.

It’s just the convenience of the net that I’m missing. Having to drive home to do netbanking and check my email etc is pretty annoying. I can do most of the basic things at netcafes easily enough, but no fucking way am I doing any actual monetary transactions or banking from one of those places.

So what else have I been doing, then? Hmm.

Well, Scott and I have been checking out a few restaurants up King street, most are alright, bar Guzzle Tandoori opposite us. Totally shit. Lou’s been coming along now and then too. This week I’m gonna try and starve myself a bit because I feel like I’m overeating again and I want to lose some more weight. If that doesn’t work or I can’t handle it I’ll fire up the kick-start diet again and try that out. Yeah, just in time for Christmas. That’s ok though, I don’t really like Christmas food much.

Speaking of food, I think I’m going to Kylie Kwong’s (Kwan? Kwon?) restaurant with Lou and her parents next week… I think. It’s either tomorrow or next week. Hrm. That’s Asian-y food anyway, and if it’s Chinese I don’t particulary get off too much on that either. Still, I’m sure it’ll be fun.

Saw Garden State with Lou last week, very good and enjoyable and it didn’t feel Hollywood-bastardised, which is refreshing for an American movie. Much like all my Troma videos that I’m still ploughing through. I think I’m starting to convert Scott to both TISM and Troma. Look out. He seemed to enjoy the 10 year old TISM video I converted to DVD about some of their exploits. Jolly good.

Last weekend was the Christmas party for where I work. We went to the same place again: Harold Park Paceway (gotta love the trots). The food was alright, very RSL/bistro-y. I didn’t eat any of the seafood, of course. The beer seemed to be watered down but at least it was free. My costume (a “Christmas present”, ie a cardbox box with shoulder straps made of tinsel and wrapped in wrapping paper) fell apart when the wind blew the paper straight off it, so I ditched it. I couldn’t be fucked carrying it from Newtown to Glebe or wherever the Paceway is, I walked 35 minutes to get there.

After the party I decided to go to Newtown, instead of Oxford street where some of my other colleagues went. It turned out another girl I knew from work was hitting up a pub on King street so I met up there with her and more work people I’d never spoken to before. It went well enough. I then had to escort a girl called Alecia around the back streets of Newtown to find the Imperial where some more “upstairs” people from work were hanging around. No one stayed there long though as it was getting a bit late and no one was drinking enough to keep it going. I managed to fluke my way through the back streets and found my apartment really easily. Go me.

On Sunday, Deny came around to pick up his paintings and mum and dad came round to check up on things and help me with a few handyman style jobs. Scott and I were rather amused that orphic never bothered calling or dropping in. I’m sure she’ll have a good excuse. hehe.

As for work, well, I’m simply working too hard (as usual, of course) and I’m getting my RSI symptoms back again. I can only type for a little while before it starts to burn, but I have other odd jobs to keep me going for my 3 ten hour shifts a week. Good times, yes.

Hopefully I’ll be able to work my way in to the IT department after Christmas. Hopefully. We’ll see what happens.

Anyway I suppose I’ll get a wriggle on and get back to the flat. Oh maybe I’ll pay dad first and bust my bank account. Medicare still haven’t paid him his money for about the 6th time this year… Yes, Medicare owes my dad $30k from this year, and still haven’t paid up. They keep saying the forms he submitted must have been lost by Australia Post. Unfortunately for them he’s always delivered them by hand to Medicare’s office drop boxes. Bad luck on the excuses, you pricks.

So, that’s why he wants my money, now. :S

Whee.

Oh yeah, getting up at 5am for work fucking smokes it.

-_-

FINALLY.

Finished my ISYS3000 assignment.

2500 words later (I think it’s a little over, it’s meant to be 2000, but that’s including the headings and references too).

Thank CHRIST.

No more assignments for the year! Wheeee!

Nothing for 3 weeks, when I have my exams! Wheeee!

Got Lou to book a holiday house in Noosa for Lloyd, Eri, Lou and I earlier this afternoon. The silly boffins couldn’t decide on a place, after throwing about 500 links around for the last few days. Of course, with my masculine hunter-style mind I managed to peruse the thumbnails of available locations near Hastings street and we ended up booking the first one that I picked. ;)

$275 each for 7 nights. Less than 1km to Hastings street and it’s got its own private pool and beach, along with nearby restaurants and a bus stop. It’s also decked out with facilities such as TV & DVD, even a dishwasher. It has this funky blue kitchen counter and it’s tiled through and even has ceiling fans! Yay for nice and cool floor with air flow during what will probably be the hottest and most humid time of the year!

It should be really good fun, I’m looking forward to going there with the guys.

Can’t remember if I posted earlier or not, Lou missed out on the job at Coke. :( She’ll have to go work for Pepsi now just to get the ultimate revenge.

Spoke to FallenAngel/Brendan, a dude from WAY back on austnet IRC (circa 1997). He randomly messaged me on Trillian’s ICQ (as I wont use normal ICQ) tonight as I was writing up my report. It was good to catch up with Prong Brother 1. Mmm hmm.

Looks like I’m most likely moving out to Newtown in a month or so! Holy cow! Deny (pronounced Danny, but he’s stupid) reckons he’s moving up to Queensland somewhere and he wants to sell some of the furniture/appliances that are already in the flat for some extra cash. Mum said she would probably buy it or something (?? but that suits me) so I can use it. I’m probably getting a flatmate too but I don’t know if that’s meant to be a mystery yet or not and I can’t be stuffed checking.

As usual, I’ve stayed up later than I need to in order to write in this journal. I don’t think I’ve got it in me to a) regularly write; and b) write at a reasonable time. I’ve coped for this long though so it can’t be all bad.

I’ve been playing the World of Warcraft closed beta. It’s pretty fun, I think it’s actually fucking good for an MMORPG (even though I promised myself I’d never play one again). I’m still undecided as to whether I’ll be buying it when it goes retail or not. I’ll have to see what my situation is at the time.

I do have some hot photos from it, though:

I picked Bentley because it’s the first luxury style car I thought of, as I don’t know much about cars (they’re crap).

Oh well.

Uni starts again on Monday, wow. My timetable, once again, is retarded:

  • 3 subjects
  • 10-12 alternating hours per week
  • 5 days

THANKS HEAPS USYD.

Not to mention I have a 3 hour lecture from 2 til 5pm Mondays. Hooray. :(

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy oh whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy must my timetables consistently suck pus?

I figured I’d use “pus” just then for effect, as it isn’t used enough in language.

<Bad Fast Show impersonation> This week, I’ve mostly been playing Jagged Alliance 2! Wheee. Old games are the goods. Patrician 3 is too damn hard though. I hate trading games. All you end up doing is writing down frigging prices all the times for comparison. Stuff that. :S

I worked today (Saturday, I mean) for the first time in months. It still sucks working weekends. At least the extra money should be nice.

Someone slashed Jimmy’s tyres at work on Friday night… All four of them. Nasty. :O Time to call Inspector Morse.

Not much else going on… I keep putting off doing more weights for almost a fortnight every time I do it. Bad me. :S Laziness would be ok if I was allowed to just sleep the whole time.

I just found this linked indirectly through ‘s lj… I cbf explaining though. hehe

Eyes hurt.
