Camwhore.

Well, kinda.

I got bored. The first one is a photo from someone else’s camera. Technically it’s not a camwhore shot.

The second one again shows off my “receding hairline”. I swear to God it’s not receding. That’s my actual hairline. It just looks worse because my hair is short and that photo is taken from above my head (on my new phone, actually). My hair’s too thick to be receding. Honest. The cartoon picture did of me represents the actual consistency of my hair.

Really.

>_>

Anyway. My new phone arrived! Yay. I charged it up and got it going. I even calibrated the compass. By golly, that was a pain in the arse to accomplish. Hopefully I’ll never have to calibrate it again. The task involved holding the phone flat and horizontal, then either spinning the phone or yourself holding the phone around in a circle. Certainly not the most robust process, that’s for sure.

I think I’ll need to get an infra red scanner so my PC can play around with files on the phone. It’ll be cheaper to extract photos and movies that way than it will be to email/MMS them somewhere. :O

Jolly good.

P.S. Look like Battlefield 2 is out early, via BitTorrent. Always good to see those naughty release teams getting things done.

Silence.

I finally took the time to remove the BIOS fan (that one that has been whirring for months) from my motherboard. I think I mentioned earlier that apparently it doesn’t make any difference as long as you’re not overclocking. Well, I’m not overclocking. So far it’s been 2 minutes and it’s all looking good!

I can’t believe how quiet my computer is again. :D I still haven’t reconnected the 120mm fan at the back, either, due to all the dust it sucks in. Maybe I can find a nice little filter or something and slide that inbetween the fan and the case. Maybe I wont bother if the temperature stays alright.

Speaking of temperature, I also took the opportunity to actually move my sound card down a few slots, so that it wasn’t crammed up in the face of my video card. The video card’s temperature has already dropped from 90° to 70° when I try maxing it out with some hardcore 3D rendering. Good times. Maybe BF2 wont fuck up as much now.

I don’t want to go to work today. :(

Lara Croft goes bust

In an attempt to appeal to more female players the creators of computer game icon Lara Croft have re-vamped her image to remove one of her most prominent and remarked- upon features – her generous bust.

In the soon-to-be-released “Tomb Raider: Legend”, the eighth title to feature Croft, her DD-size bust has been reduced to a more modest C-cup and some of her more revealing outfits have been ditched, the report said.

Bad luck for all those low-polygon porn freaks out there.

In other news: I had a pie from Shakespeare’s Jesters (note the distinct lack of an apostrophe). Vegetarian curry with a side of their magnificent chips. I’m very disturbed at their lack of an apostrophe in their name. Fuckers. At least the food is still good.

Uni work is in the second wave of “must complete ASAP” for the semester. That’s the good wave because it means exams are coming soon and that means holidays. Huzzah. Cramming time is yet to be scheduled.

Speaking of schedules, I have to get out of work on the 10th of June for Mary’s Katie’s party. Yes, she changed her name last year. I still prefer Mary. Hmm.

Our “temporary flatmate”, Nick, (or G_o_L_i_A_t_H as he prefers to be called) is yet to arrive back from his weekend up in Newcastle rooting his girlfriend. We haven’t heard anything from him and all his stuff is still on the floor near the kitchen, along with his computer. I hope he’s alright. He hasn’t been answering his phone. His mum hasn’t rung us, either. She knows our phone number so I’d assume if she knew something had happened we’d have been called by her at least. Then again if something’s happened on the way home on Sunday night, maybe no one knows about it. I’m avoiding thinking about the possibilities until I hear more. He wasn’t at work today, too.

Hotness.

Me about to snap some raps, yo.

That’s the copy of Evil Genius that I won at ivLAN a few weeks ago, after ripping it up in the Counter-Strike: Source competition. My TMP spelt death for all those in front of me. Honest.

I was asleep two minutes before that photo was taken. I was asleep again two minutes later.

The floor was hard, and cold. Like a corpse, really. Just a little furrier and with more food spilt on it.

Timesink.

Another great reason to buy in to MMORPGs:

Online gamer charged with killing competitor

Qiu Chengwei, 41, went on trial on Tuesday in a Shanghai court on charges that he stabbed to death Zhu Caoyuan, a fellow player of a popular game called Legend of Mir III, the China Daily newspaper said.

Qiu confronted Zhu after learning that he sold the virtual weapon lent to him by Qiu to another player, the newspaper said. It said Qiu reported the loss of the “Dragon Saber” to police but they said it wasn’t real property protected by the law.

And if that wasn’t enough:

Exabyte, the new megabyte

Here’s a scary thought: at the moment, most of the world’s telephone calls are ephemeral – as soon as the words are spoken, they are lost. But storage capacity is now so great, and cost so low, that it is becoming feasible to store all telephone conversations on computer disk.

With the increased requirements for audit trails for compliance, the real and artificial imperatives of the war on terrorism, and the increased sophistication of data mining software that can analyse digitised voice patterns, can this be far away?

And since when did have 41 friends? Man, none of mine even post in their journals so there’s only about 2-3 things to read on the friends page every now and then.

Perhaps I should get more e-social.

Perhaps.

Whirr.

I think the fan in my PC has crapped itself for the time being. It’s fucking noisy.

At the moment, I’m typing this with a toothbrush in my mouth and Colgate seeping out its corners. I’m about to go to work but I decided to procrastinate. That mentality is basically where I got the idea for the journal title. Then again, who bothers looking at other people’s journals from their actual page? Not I.

KOTOR2 has an unsolvable scripting error that ruins the game, requiring the player to restart if they hope to get past it. After 30+ hours play time I can’t see that happening.

I’ve been playing a bit of the latest Hoyle’s Casino, brushing up on my gambling skills. Maybe when I’ve got some actual money I can pretend I’m a high roller for about 5 blackjack hands, then stumble out in tears.

This toothpaste is fresh. Mmm.

I bought some Mamee noodles today from the supermarket. Exciting times. I haven’t really had them since I ate about 40 of them in one day about 10 years ago. That was at Vinny’s house, with Gary, raging up on NBA Live 95 on his SNES.

Speaking of Vinny, he told me Harris got engaged the other day. I’ll catch up with them some time soon, I said.

P.S. Hi Lloyd and Erica if you both read this. Stalkers.

Wet.

I saw again today. Trippier.

Had uni for 2 hours, was ok. My team member, Dave, knows his shit. It’s good, because I don’t, really. Well I sort of do, but whatever. Too hard to explain. He watches Naruto, too. Whee.

Grinded out some more hours on KOTOR2. Yes, a game. Addictive little thing. It’s captured me the same way the first one did, so I believe I’ll finish it and break the standard 3 day timelimit (I already have).

Winesoc had an exec meeting at 5pm tonight at Manning. I braved the cold and wet rain to get there on foot from the flat. Taking notes and running meetings is fun, it’s a benevolent bullying outlet of sorts.

Speaking of rain, our roof started leaking over the stairs. I almost killed myself when I slipped on the wet wood without knowing it was holding up a puddle. A bucket and two towels seemed to have tamed it, but I had to call mum to let dad know so he can organise something to fix it. ^_^

Now to write up the minutes and email my other team from EBUS3003! Huzzah.

Your Seduction Style: The Natural

You don’t really try to seduce people… it just seems to happen.
Fun loving and free spirited, you bring out the inner child in people.
You are spontaneous, sincere, and unpretentious – a hard combo to find!
People drop their guard around you, and find themselves falling fast.

Shipwrecked.

Lokitorrent got owned the other day. :(

Tried to post this yesterday morning, but LJ was fucked, too. Nice one.

Fortunately I still have my other premium torrent sites to entertain me! Just hope they don’t get raided and have to give up their member details. :O Possibly the worst thing about all the new sites: user databases.

So, my late wrap-up of recent games:

COPS 2170: The Power of Law – (…) good idea, decent graphics, bad implementation. Kind of like Jagged Alliance meets Syndicate Wars. I really like most of this game, but it’s just not balanced correctly so it can be incredibly hard even on the easiest setting. Not to mention it has a reallllllllllly lame name.

The Punisher – Cool. True to the spirit of the comics. Very brutal and ruthless, but with flair. Nice to see a few Marvel cameos as well. Think Manhunt meets Max Payne, but take out all the stupid annoying shit from Manhunt.

Fallout Tactics – not too bad either. A beefed up version of the Fallout games, with nicer graphics and higher resolution. This one is a bit old now and I’ve been after it for a while, just haven’t been able to get my hands on it properly. It’s a tactical combat style game basically, again similar to Jagged Alliance or X-COM. It has 3 different settings though, from real-time (Warcraft 3 style) to squad turn-based (X-COM style) to attack precedence I guess you’d call it (Fallout 1 & 2 style). Anyway, I got a bit of the way through it then started pining for some old Fallout 1 and 2, but my copy of Fallout 2 doesn’t work so I may just order it from a games website if I feel like spending the $15.

I could get Fallout 2 for US$2.50 and another US$2.50 for shipping I think if Amazon’s marketplace let people ship video games internationally. Fuckers. :<

I don’t suppose anyone really cares about any of the stuff I just wrote. I just thought I needed to make it look like I’ve got something to say for once. Hmm.

I’ve got a feeling I probably wont get the tutoring position at uni that I applied for. I’m kind of happy about it now though, turns out the course I applied for isn’t set out the way I thought it would be, so I’m not really keen on teaching it anyway. I don’t know if I could be fucked with doing the programming courses as well. Might just do another shift or so at SDS during semester and save myself the trauma.

That shouldn’t be too bad, since I seem to have scored myself 6 hour (minimum) shifts every Saturday for the next few months, leading to time and a half. If I can slip in a couple more decent-length shifts each week I should be plum. Well, scrape by for semester.

Still don’t know how I’m going to cope if I do honours next year. Hopefully I’ll be able to get youth allowance or something (there’s about 50 different names for it depending on your situation), since it’s meant to be a full time course. Hmm. I’m really not even sure if I want to go through with it now. Depends what options I find available for myself at the end of the year and if I’ve decided what I really want to do. Or perhaps on how well I do this year at uni.

I still hate being the only person in my circle of friends left at uni. Gah. :s

Reflection.

I was bored at work today (surprisingly), and it dawned (again) how quickly the last year has gone. Let’s have a quick run down from what I can remember:

  • This time last year I’d just moved back home from Ross’ flat and was gearing up for my trip to the Middle East with Lou.
  • team.dot was in preparation for the Enemy Territory finals on GameArena, which we ended up winning whilst I was overseas.
  • I was starting to get a little nervous about going back to uni after taking a year off, wondering if I’d be able to keep motivated to get through the year fully, even though it was part time.
  • I began playing CoD after I got back from the Middle East with dot, learning the game and helping the team develop in to a big competitor on the scene.
  • Around the same time I’d started to have more of an influence on dot’s direction and activities. We still had the pro attitude and aspired to get full sponsorship with the hope of getting to play overseas at some big CoD tourneys.

That’s a little bit. So much sort of happened but it all went so quickly. Maybe I’ll do some more when it comes back to me. :O
